How to arrange for a campus tour
Our Previous Campus Our previous campus served our purpose well, but it was not a place we could call home.

Cambrian Academy is working to change the way people think about college prep. It is a term that has been loosely thrown around so much that it has simply become a synonym for high school.

We believe that classes should remain small, and the school itself should remain small. Only this way can teachers and administrators truly know each student. Our goal is to continue our track record of 100% of our graduates being accepted to college. This is a college-going culture.
How did our past campus meet our needs? The heart and soul of the school are the program and the teachers. We had enough classroom space to do the academic teaching. We have the resources to go beyond the classroom. Look at our Facebook page and you will see lab work being done on a research vessel on the Bay. You will see the astronomy class enjoying a lecture at SETI, and much more.

A small school will not have large sports teams, so you will not see large playing fields at any Cambrian Academy campus. So how is it we have students being signed by colleges like UC Berkeley and the MLS to play soccer? Our soccer players play for the San Jose Quakes and are part of the Player Development League. How is it that some of our students get preferential treatment from some of the most respected engineering programs? Our racing team competes with the SAE teams at several top universities.

The library was one block away. The basketball and tennis courts were two blocks away. We transport students to sailing, racing, and other off-site PE programs. It doesn't get more customized than that.

MOVING IN 2017: We have purchased our own building and land!

How will our new campus better meet our needs? We will no longer be sharing rooms with a landlord's other programs.

We will be closer to a greater variety of lunchtime options.

The classrooms will be designed specifically for our program.

We are now one of the very few private high schools that OWN their buildings and land. Most private schools have no choice but to rent or lease building space from other owners, and that creates a degree of uncertainty regarding their future. Owning our campus shows not only financial stability, but also a long term commitment to the education of your children.

However, a new campus might not look the way you are expecting. We plan to do for the school campus what ROLM did for the corporate campus. We do not want the traditional institutional cinder block prison look of the typical public (government) school. We want our campus to reflect the professional environment in which our students may someday work. Take a look at the 2017 graduation photos posted on Facebook, and you will catch a glimpse of what we mean.
When and where? The new building is now ours. The City has approved it, and the sale and transfer of ownership is complete. We are now working to modify it for our specific needs. This includes a new and upgraded fire prevention system and alarms, upgraded security features, installation of the science labs and recording studio, computer lab setup, and other improvements. We have moved into the new building, and the remainder of the necessary contruction is being completed at this time.

The new address is 4340 Almaden Expressway, San Jose.

Here are some early pictures from before we began improvements.

What now? Since it isn't possible to see everything on a campus tour, we have assembled a virtual tour by selecting some pages from the yearbook. This should at least give you an idea of what it is like to be a Cambrian Academy student from the students' point of view. Download it here. (26 Mb)
